HGV Mechanic 

At Dermot Cronin Motors, we are currently seeking a qualified mechanic to join our coach fleet maintenance team. The successful candidate will be based at our North County Dublin depot.

We are looking for a skilled HGV Mechanic to assist in the maintenance and repair of PSV vehicles, with responsibility for troubleshooting issues and fixing them, aiming to maximum reliability and functionality. Dermot Cronin Motors is the authorized Vanhool aftersales agent in Ireland and this role is part of a larger team but with specific responsibility for the Fleet Maintenance of Cronins Coaches fleet in Dublin, along with other Vanhool repairs.

Well-versed in the complex systems of PSV vehicles and have excellent problem-solving abilities and be a good communicator.

Responsibilities
• Inspect vehicle engine, mechanical and electrical components to diagnose issues accurately.
• Inspect vehicle computer and electronic systems to repair, maintain and upgrade.
• Conduct routine maintenance work (e.g., replacing fluids, lubricating parts etc.) with the aim of maintaining vehicle functionality and longevity.
• Assist in scheduling future maintenance sessions.
• Repair or replace broken/dysfunctional parts.
• Provide accurate estimates (cost, time, effort) for a repair or maintenance job.
• Keep logs on work and issues.
• Maintain equipment and tools in good condition.
Requirements
• Proven experience as HGV mechanic.
• Experience working on DAF engines would be an advantage.
• Experience working with Vanhool Vehicles would be a plus.
• Excellent knowledge of mechanical, electrical and electronic components of vehicles.
• Working knowledge of vehicle diagnostic systems and methods, TEXA etc.
• Ability to handle various tools and heavy equipment (e.g., lifts).
• Willingness to observe and commit to all safety precautions for protection against accidents, dangerous fluids, chemicals, etc.
• Category D (Bus) driving licence an advantage.
