There are 4 main reasons your vehicle needs an annual CVRT test:

1. You can't get your vehicle taxed without it.

Only when you pass your CVRT test, will you get your Certificate of Road Worthiness (CRW)? And you can't renew your tax without your CRW. You need to include your CRW in your motor tax application.

2. It makes more roadworthy vehicles

The CVR test makes sure that, every year, all goods vehicles on the road have been thoroughly and fairly tested. The test catches vehicle failure points and re-tests vehicles on those points, so they return to the road as safer and more roadworthy vehicles.

3. It saves time

Yearly tests and well-maintained vehicles mean fewer breakdowns. The CVRT programme improves the overall efficiency for goods vehicle testing.

4. Its the law.

The legislation states that all commercial vehicles must be tested when they are over one years old and annually after that. So having your vehicle tested means avoidance of penalty points and fines.

Please prepare for your CVRT test by ensuring that:

1. Your car has adequate oil and water.

2. Your vehicle is reasonalbly clean (especially the under body)

3. The wheel hubcaps are removed (only in the case where the wheel nuts are not visible ) and the tyres are inflating to the correct pressure

4. The engine is in a fit state to be tested e.g. Cam belt/timing belt

5. Seat belts and clips are fully visible

6. Your registration plates comply with current regulations

7. Please ensure the person who brings the car for inspection beings identification with them in the form of a driving licence or passport as failure to provide the required identification will result in the vehicle not being issued a CRVT pass at the time of testing
